Scuba Steve

Steve Gattman is currently a structural engineer, after having retired from the Elkhart Fire Department where he held all positions from firefighter/paramedic through Chief of the Department. He got his degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the great State of Michigan in 1995. He began diving in the early 70’s when the instruction consisted of "don’t hold your breath on the way up." He became legal in the mid 80’s,to be involved in dive rescue for the local department. Steve is still involved in instruction for the local police and fire dive rescue teams in the area. He holds certifications with PADI, IANTD and YMCA., and is currently certified to the Specialty Instructor level. His true loves are deep air, wreck and cave diving, and he spends as much time underwater as time (and wife) allow. Steve is a frequent visitor to Gilboa quarry, but has been rumored to have been seen (other than on post office posters) from South America to Maui and in the United States from Florida to Lake Superior.
