I was PADI certified in the fall of 1990 and now holds a PADI Divemaster rating. In addition, Ice Diving and Nitrox certifications helped in achieving a PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
I help a dive shop here in SE Michigan called Advanced Aquatics Diving. We bring our students to Portage Quarry (THE diving jewel of the Midwest) just South of Bowling Green, Ohio. After the dives you can usually find me and my dive buds at BW3s munching on my favorite post dive snack, chicken wings in 10 different flavors and a coke if we are night diving, a good cold beer if Im done diving for the day.
Other quarries dove, Salsbury Quarry NW of Bowling Green, OH (now private, no access) & Gilboa Quarry in a wet suit in April (several years ago
BRRRR) now, in fresh water, I dive dry almost 100% of the time. (:o
Living in SE Mich., I am only about 2 hrs away to some pretty good shipwreck diving off Lexington or Port Sanilac, MI., and less than 4 hrs from the Straights of Mackinac or Thunder Bay (Alpena, MI).
Past fresh water dive destinations include, Straights of Mackinac, Thunder Bay, Tobermory, Kingston - Ontario, Bonne Terre Mine - MO and several mud holes locally here in Michigan along with the previously mentioned quarries in Ohio.
Past Salt (and warm) water dive trips include all of the Caribbean Aggressors at least twice. Land based destinations ~ Bonaire, Cozumel (many times) Saba, San Salvador - Bahamas, and I just got back from Cayman Brac where I did a midnight dive on Dec. 31,1999 to cross over into 2000!
I love underwater photography and macro is my favorite, but even more fun than taking the picture is "the hunt". Way too many people swim past so much "stuff" its incredible. I come up from dives all excited and before I can get a word our I hear "HMPH! That wasnt all THAT great" and Im thinking to myself
. WOW, that was one of the best dive sites Ive ever been on! Go figure.
A future destination I have booked is the Okeanos Aggressor
YES, FINALLY, COCO ISLAND! In July 2000, I cant wait!
