I was born in Monticello, Iowa but grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. I now reside in Indianapolis, IN. My passion for diving began in about 1958 with Mike Nelson and Jacques Cousteau. I intended to become a Marine Ecologist until I got married and started having children.

They number 5 born from 1969 to 1985. Now that they are essentially grown my attention has turned back to diving.

Currently I am a PADI Divemaster working on an endless progression of skill development. That Open Water Certificate is just a license to begin learning. My ultimate goal is to retire to a warm coast and dive for fun, research and beer money as long as I am able.

In the mean time, I live in the Midwest and that means Quarries and the Great Lakes. It is not "pretty" diving but it is interesting, diverse, and cold. Some folks may find it surprising how good this diving can be if you are trained and prepared for it. Just as rewarding are the people I meet like Mike, Luann, Troy, Preston, John, and Slim, and Lori, just to name a few.

So if you see a Quarry Commando T-shirt at some Midwest quarry or lake come up and say hi.
